Who do we work with?

Maternal Matters works with young parents and professionals on various levels.

We welcome recommendations & guidance from all groups and aspire to work in partnership with local authorities, professionals and relevant groups to enable our service to evolve with the changing needs of the focus group.

As of December 2010, Majella House is currently the only Mother and Baby centre on the North West Placements preferred provider list.

Our referral process

Our New Residential Family Centre is based in Monton, Salford, Greater Manchester. Majella House caters for young women aged 13 upwards either pregnant or with baby'. Referrals will generally come directly from the Local Authorities Social Services or by Court Directive, however we are able to offer advice and recommended routes to access services for any individuals who have genuine concerns over a child's safety. Our Stage 2 and 3 Support can be accessed following an initial assessment. This time allows us to understand and assess the specific needs of the family going forward and what level of support is required.

Upon referral, we conduct an internal comprehensive risk assessment before accepting any family. We will look at the case history, current and probable future needs, and then evaluate the impact the placement may have on the existing families. We will only exclude a parent from a centre if they continually disregard house rules or represent a serious risk to staff and other families we are working with.
