Maternal Matters
Our Vision:
All children will be loved and raised in a happy, healthy and stable environment. All will have every chance to reach their full potential in life.
Maternal Matters exists to
- Enable families to grow and develop as healthy individuals in a safe environment.
- Support and encourage young parents to develop the feelings, skills and knowledge necessary to nurture their children safely. In turn this will enable them to enjoy life and fulfil their potential.
- Encourage the parent to recognise the benefits of education & employment training, making a positive contribution to the community and achieving personal economic well-being.
- Offer an independent assessment of the young parent's potential & ability to care for the child safely.
- Work to a solution based pathway that will deliver tapered support right through to independent living within the local community.
CORE VALUES
- To display a genuine passion to see young people achieve & be happy
- Offer creative solutions, including individualised needs driven care packages that are tapered to the young mother's progress with the ultimate aim of delivery back into independent living
- Promote active engagement of the user with their care plan and outcomes
- Continually assess our impact on positive outcomes and how we can better them
- Proactively listen to young mothers and children with respect and without judgement or prejudice and respond directly.
- Respect and value a person's race, culture, faith and personal experience
- To work productively and in harmony with all professionals involved in care of the young mother & child
- All team members must positively contribute to the 'warmth' of the home
- Children must be safe and protected from all forms of violence and exploitation
- Everyone has a responsibility to support the care of children
- Children should be encouraged and enabled to fulfil their potential
- We will use our independence to challenge inequalities for children, young people and their families
- Parents will be recognised for their unique worth and we will do everything possible to enable them to care for their children in a safe and secure way within the reasonable timescales dictated by the child's development
